Fantasy World, Batangas

These photos were taken at a place in Batangas that they call Fantasy World. During my elder daughter’s first ever field trip, this is where we spent time and ate lunch.

Though the name itself sound fantastic indeed, there’s not much to do there but roam around, take pictures of the beautiful “castles”, and maybe enjoy a picnic with family and friends.

K enjoyed running around the area with her friends and classmates and gamely posed for Mommy. I remember she even said that she wants to live in a castle. Every girl’s dream, right?

This is one of the castles you’ll find there. I am sorry that these photos are so obvious to be old. LOL! One can only enter the ground floor as they have not allowed anyone on the other floors.

We were told by the tour guide that this place was once part of the “Fantaserye” in GMA7 – Encantadia (if I recall it right). K definitely had a short yet memorable stay at the Fantasy World. I am not sure though if this is still open for public until now.

Laiya, Batangas Beach

There are a lot of people that head of the beach last Holy Week – it was a long weekend to be exact and was perfect for family bonding. I then remember our trip to a beach in Laiya, Batangas. We first visited Tagaytay and after having lunch, we started our travel to Laiya, also in Batangas.

My only daughter, then, had so much fun practicing her new learned skill – swimming! We enrolled her that summer in a swimming lesson and that day, she’s showed off! There were times that her Dad still had to guide her, though.

Though hubby was a little awkward riding this motor boat, it still showed he had a great time. He rented the boat from someone at the beach and checked out an island they called “Dulo”.  I guess it is because the island was about 10-15 minutes away from the beach.

This was at the other side of the island we visited and the water was so clear and inviting! We also saw some people snorkeling and feeding the fishes.  My friend Pia got to experience that since she’s a good swimmer.  This wasn’t my first visit in Batangas and will definitely not be the last. We didn’t get to go on an outing last year and most probably, we will not have any this year too. Time, budget and circumstances won’t allow it, I guess. In case we’ll get to have another beach trip next year, I’d suggest for us to go back to Batangas.

Club Manila East

We have been to Club Manila East twice already and I guess we will never feel bore in this summer venue. Aside from being near the metro, Taytay Rizal to be exact, Club Manila East is really spacious. A summer getaway perfect especially to those who do not really want to bother travel for hours anymore.

CME Central then boasts six pools:  Kiddie Pool with waterfalls and fountains, Adult Pool with a giant 3-looped slide, the Lap Pool, the Shaded Pool, the Bean-shaped pool and the very unique Beach Waves pool. Plus they also have Boating area for kayaking, and the Buzzy River too. It has been a while since our last visit do I am not sure if there were any pool additions into this list.

Swim wear attire is required of course. They won’t allow for anyone to bring in food – there were plenty of food choices inside. I think I saw 2 Jollibee booths, Pizza Hut and Selecta too. We found a food store where you can place your order, leave your name and Cabana number and leave –  our food was delivered! We ordered sizzling Sisig and chicken. We also enjoyed servings of Green Mangoes and Bagoong.

We were there early before Club Manila East has opened that’s why the “dads” were able to get a good spot – a cabana right in front of one of the pools. It was yet another proof that the early bird catches the worm. There were so many excursionists that day.

We had fun kayaking. My daughter enjoyed it so much that she didn’t want to get off the kayak anymore. There were people lined up and waiting for their turn so, she really had to get up and let others enjoy too. She even exclaimed that she wants to spend another summer fun at Club Manila East  a week after our visit.

That summer was definitely a memorable and fun filled for each one of us. We are looking forward to have another summer getaway this year with our friends and who knows – it could be there again!

Batangas Farmland Educational Field Trip

These photos were taken back 2007 (as seen in each of the photos, he he!) during my elder daughter’s school educational field trip. It was her very first school field trip to have attended and was really excited. Mommy here felt the same way too, for my daughter. It was a milestone to consider. Our first destination was Batangas. It was a long trip indeed especially for little kids in primary level but I can say that the trip was all worth it. The kids and the parents and companions all enjoyed the place – Batangas Farmland.

K and her friend Korinne posed in front of the info board after gladly reading what it says. K was then 4.5 years old and Korinne was almost 4, they can already read. There were many boards like this which served as an avenue for the nursery and kindergarten students to practice their reading skills. Their understanding relies from the parents and their teachers, of course.

Little K as she posed in front of the baby plants while our farmland guide gave info about the plants and the process on how they take care of them.

She exclaimed “wow they’re cute!” as we enter the section where eggplants were planted and taken cared of. The farmland itself is huge and has different sections for seeding veggies, trees and flowers.

This is my favorite photo of K as she gamely posed as if she is so eager to take a bite of the still Green tomatoes. I remember to have submitted this photo to online contests. Yes, I have a stage mom blood running in my veins. LOL!

She had a little difficulty catching up the butterfly but almost didn’t want to let go of it too. She’s learned that butterflies don’t live that long and it somehow made her a little sad and asked how a beautiful living creature can’t “stay alive” that long.

As I have mentioned, I consider our Batangas Farmland experience or the field trip itself a milestone for my daughter, not just because it is her first field trip ever but also got to see lots of things for the first time and experience things out of the ordinary. They saw different types of animals and learned what food they eat and how to take care of them properly. And, check out the photo above, she bravely held a healthy Earthworm! We wouldn’t let her do that at home, but knowing that particular Earthworm is not the dirty type, she volunteered. I know there’s fear in her but with the help of her class adviser, she faced her fear! All she said was ” it’s cold!”.

We visited other places in Batangas and I will definitely post photos and stories of the places we’ve been there. As for this particular place, it is highly recommended for educational field trips as students didn’t just enjoy sight-seeing and spending time with plants and animals but also went home packed with new information and an understanding of nature’s importance.

Aling Tonya’s at the Seaside

I have been to Aling Tonya’s several times with friends and colleagues.

This is a place where we can go back to and enjoy seafood each time we dine in there. I am sure that many of you has already tried this place, especially those who adore seafood. Bluewave at the Seaside, specifically Aling Tonya’s is really the place to be.  Obviously, seafood is their signature dish!

Aling Tonya’s can accommodate small and big groups alike… and when I mean big…

It is really BIG!

As you wait for your food to be cooked and served, there are several things you can actually do. You and your friends can use their “Videoke”. You can also enjoy the view  and landscapes at the back of the place. Or, you can roam around first and buy your favorite TV series in DVD format, LOL!

But if you’ve done almost everything I’ve mentioned and your food still has not arrived, then you can be as wacky and silly as me and take lots of photos instead!

I wish I could go back to Aling Tonya’s again. I want to spend at least maybe a lunch out there with my family. The last time I was there  at Aling Tonya’s was when I was still pregnant with my now 2yo daughter. And I was with my elder daughter then, who in fact loves seafood. Oh how time flies!

So, if you have that seafood craving and wants to satisfy your taste buds, check out and try Aling Tonya’s at Pasay City.

You will never go wrong, trust me!

Avilon Zoo

I can not recall as to when were these photos taken but this surely was a a fun-filled and a little tiring field trip for my elder daughter, Ate K.  Avilon Zoo is a 7.5 hectare zoo which is in the valley of Barrio San Isidro, Rodriguez also known as Montalban.  Obviously the largest zoo in the country.

Different schools and organizations go on educational field trip to explore and discover more about animals, their behaviors and their help to the environment. Students on field trip are guided by a zoo tour guide who explains the ecology and so as how to conserve and protect endangered species and our environment.

Avilon means “bird land” and it is indeed a home for many bird species.  As we walk around the zoo, we met an orangutan named Jenny. The kids were instantly fond of her.

Avilon zoo has “Celebrating Life” as their philosophy. Avilon Zoo believes that life is precious and every living creature has a right to live and enjoy the beauty of life freely.

Sunday With Kids

We went to Munoz to finish the pillowcases I made and visited hubby at work too, in Waltermart. After that, we took a cab and visited Mama at the cemetery. Since there’s a church right before the cemetery’s entrance, that’s where we attended the Sunday mass. It was a children’s mass to be exact and the choir were really good. They were so nice to look at the balcony of the church.  There were also little kids that sings and acts at the altar which made my toddler’s eyes open wide with amazement.

Quiapo: Sto. Niño Feast

I can not remember the last time I was able to attend mass at the Quiapo church where the Black Nazarene is. All I can recall was I promised Mama back when she was still at the hospital that we will visit the Black Nazarene at the Quiapo church as soon as she gets well. That did not happen of course since she passed away but I made a vow I will definitely go there with or without my kids. My decision to go there last January 15 was quite prompt and the journey was not easy having two kids in tow.

As you can see, there are a lot of people outside the Quiapo church. What more inside? Well, there’s always a crowd in Quiapo. It was cloudy that day and a warning that it might rain. That did not stop me. It was only when we were already inside the church when I remembered that it was the feast of Sto.Niño that day. No wonder why there was really a lot of people inside and outside the Quiapo church. Even if it was hard to get inside, I felt that our church visit would not be complete if we would not be able to get inside the church. I was carrying my toddler and holding my elder daughter when we found an easy way out the crowd and into the church’s entrance. I was in tears as soon as I stepped inside the Quiapo church and my elder daughter kept asking why I was crying. The feeling was overwhelming and I cannot help myself but remember how happy my Mama could have been if she only won the battle with cancer and made it to the church.

I first wondered why people kept waving their hands right after the mass but heard someone said “ayos lang po tayo meron pong mag blessing!”. I was surprised that he was right in front of us. My kids and I got wet but felt so blessed. My two girls were giggling in happiness as soon as we stepped out of the church. I felt happy too and healed even if we were not able to visit the church’s side were the Black Nazarene is located. I was really planning to join in the feast of the Black Nazarene last January but it was quite impossible to achieve and it is a little scary to dare go there with kids or even alone. I am not a devotee of the Black Nazarene but you can count on my faith.

My kids’ Quiapo visit will not be the first time, we will definitely go back as soon as we get the chance. It was all worth it.

Breakfast With Friends at Makati

These photos were taken less than 5 years ago but the fun and the memories truly lives on. After our grave yard shift one morning, me and my teammates headed to the nearest Chowking branch to enjoy hot congee and lomi.

I have worked for about 6 years in Makati but I didn’t get the chance to really explore the place. I just know few streets and buildings which I think would help me out in case I get lost. LoL! I will definitely go back to Makati, for some important matters that is.
